Our Story

Woodhill Country Club is a family oriented private country club that serves as a primary social and recreational center for members by providing high quality activities and facilities.

Incorporated in 1915, Woodhill Country Club is a private family club located in the western suburbs of the Twin Cities. Members of all generations enjoy the many activities the club offers including golf, tennis, platform tennis, swimming and ice skating. In addition to outdoor activities, members gather for family meals, a Sunday brunch, a special holiday event or an evening with good friends.

The golf course, a traditional Donald Ross design completed in 1917, was host to the Trans-Mississippi Tournament, won by Jack Nicklaus in 1957. The golfing membership annually supports the Evans Scholarship Program. Paul Kelley, Head Golf Professional, is in his eighth year at Woodhill.

The golf course is maintained by Rick Fredericksen, Woodhill Superintendant for the past 29 years. Rick and his team provide an outstanding golf course that is always in excellent condition. Rick is also a leader in the area of sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The tennis facility, consisting of ten clay courts situated on the hill, boasts an active family tennis program headed by accomplished player and teacher Frank Vermeer. Over the years it has been host to several Junior Sectional Tournaments and is one of the most scenic facilities you will find anywhere.

The pool facility is open in the summer for fun, swimming lessons, and friendly competition via the Club's swim team. Katie Mahoney is Head Coach of our Swim Team and Hannah Vogel is our Pool Director.

Woodhill is a magical place in the winter. Activities center around a skating pond and two hockey rinks, four lighted platform tennis courts, a cross-country ski trail, curling rink, and a luge run. Director of Racquet Sports, Frank Vermeer, coordinates a world class platform tennis program. The Woodhill Barn is the site of many casual family gatherings and club parties.

The culinary program is led by Executive Chef David Vlach. Chef Vlach has worked with renowned Chefs Thomas Keller and Marcus Samuelsson. He brings passion, knowledge and creativity to the Woodhill kitchen and his food adds to the memories being created by families at Woodhill each and every day
